Doctors were encouraged at a recent national meeting to treat diabetics more aggressively as many of them actually die of heart disease as opposed to any other condition related to their high blood sugar. The presenters at the meeting said that many diabetics are not getting the care they need to lower their blood sugars and to screen for early onset heart disease. Doctors were encouraged to think of their diabetic patients as heart patients as well.
